Dear Parents,
Welcome to Abbot and your child's classroom. I look forward to a great year of teaching your child and helping them learn. It feels great to be in school for a new year and I am anxious to begin our “team” approach toward your child’s education. We all have the same goal – for your child to be in a happy, challenging, comfortable and safe learning environment at school.
Volunteer; Parent/Guardians are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom and share in the learning experiences. Research states that the more directly parents are involved in their child’s education the more successful the child will be in school. Therefore, there will be volunteer opportunities throughout the year. I will ask for volunteers after the first 3 to 4 weeks of school. There will be a sign up sheet at curriculum night. No experience is necessary! Volunteering in and outside the classroom is a win-win opportunity. You are able to see how your child interacts with others and you get to participate in our daily learning experiences. I really enjoy having the opportunity to see parents on a regular basis.
Please label all coats, backpacks, and lunch bags as there are similar items and it will help identify the owner. Please send a fruit/veggie snack for your child daily. The district is asking that all classrooms have fruit/veggie snacks for the first eight weeks of school due to food allergies, until all known allergies per classroom are stated.
Parent (Capsule) Night is Sept 15, 6:30 PM. Please make a note on your calendar. Please bring your Young Five with us for a time for us to get acquainted and for me to explain the curriculum. I hope to see you there!
Since we are working toward the same goal, it is important for us to communicate often. I will send a newsletter home on a regular basis informing you of our activities. Please feel free to e-mail (bradleys@aaps.k12.mi.us) Email Mrs. Bradley or call (school; 994-1901) if you have a question or concern. Writing notes is also a good way to share information. Making Maple Syrup
We tapped a tree at school. Collected sap with a spile and bag. Then we boiled away the water and was left with delicious syrup for our pancakes!

Photocast; The Mitten, by Jan Brett
We read two different versions of The Mitten, BUT WE LOVED the Jan Brett version! So much so that we just had to dress up and go into THE MITTEN. Enjoy.
